I have reinstalled twice, deleted all files & generally pounded my head against the keyboard without any effect. This started about a week ago, when the FreeType2 problem was causing the Steam interface to not work-I applied the fix to get Steam to start-I updated the Beta Client & Steam started normally-but Serious Sam 4 would start Audio, but no Video. ![]() I guess that I'm going to reopen an "old" issue. While it works just fine using both D3D11 and D3D12, being able to use the native Vulkan renderer would be most ideal way to play the game and currently it is possible only on AMD video cards(had an r9 390x before switching to RTX 3070, so I can confirm) The entire system would be unresponsive, but if you keep alt+tabbing it'll show up steam and you'll be able to stop the game. Also to reproduce Vulkan hang/freeze on Nvidia just simply start the game using Vulkan load up a level and you'll hang either immediately or in a bit. It's more like a hang/freeze if you can call it that(I recently changed GPU and I can confirm that this is only Nvidia related issue about the Vulkan renderer api hang). The game requires d3dcompiler_47.dll to be enabled in the prefix (protontricks 257420 d3dcompiler_47) in order to work with D3D11, also a launch command +sfx_api OpenAL is necessary otherwise the game would just show croteam crash reporter.ĭ3D11 has good performance, as well as D3D12, but Vulkan on nvidia seems to be crashing for no reason, the log indicates absolutely nothing and I have just a log generated.
